Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. Patients with newly diagnosed Deep Vein Thrombosis 2. Patients who have not previously received DVT prophylaxis 3. Patients who are not receiving any anticoagulant or antiplatelet therapy. 4. Age group: >18 years of age. 5. Patients without any known co- morbid conditions predisposing to hypercoagulable state.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Age < 18 years- Patients with ongoing pregnancy. 2. Patients who have received DVT prophylaxis. 3. Previously known case of lower limb DVT 4. Patients on anticoagulant or antiplatelet therapy. 5. Patients with known co-morbid conditions predisposing to hyper-coagulable states

Primary

MeasureTime frame
The effectiveness of Dabigatran in recanalization of veins as seen in serial venous dopplers ,pre and post initiation of therapy.Timepoint: 6 months

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
It is measured as complete resolution of DVT based on venous doppler findings and clinical betterment of the patient in terms of pain, limb girth, color of the limb, features of venous insufficiencyTimepoint: 6 months
