Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Patients aged 18 -65 years undergoing emergency surgery in JIPMER

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Pregnancy 2. Gastroesophageal reflux disorders 3. patients who are unable to assume right lateral decubitus position 4. patients posted under very urgent category 5. Impaired level of consciousness (GCS 6. Poor sonographic window

MeasureTime frame
To measure the residual gastric contents by point-of-care ultrasound in adult patients posted for emergency surgery under general anaesthesiaTimepoint: Outcome will be analysed at baseline and at the end after collection of data for the requisite sample size .

To evaluate degree of agreement between sonographically estimated gastric content and nil per oral status of the adult patients posted for emergency surgery in JIPMERTimepoint: Outcome will be analysed initially at baseline and at after collection of data for the requisite sample size.
