Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1) Pregnant women above the age of 21 years 2) Singleton term pregnancies ( >37 weeks of gestational age) 3) Live fetus- vertex presentation

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1) Traumatic PPH 2) Placenta previa 3) Abruptio placenta 4) Severe pre-eclampsia 5) Severe anemia 6) Gestational thrombocytopenia, TTP, ITP 7) Sensitivity to oxytocin or carbetocin 8) Serious cardiovascular disorders, hepatic, renal disorders, epilepsy 9) Multiple pregnancies 10) Chorioamnionitis 11) Polyhydraminos 12) Macrosomia 13) History of previous postpartum hemorrhage

MeasureTime frame
To measure the effect of intramuscular carbetocin in reducing the blood loss during vaginal delivery as compared to intramuscular oxytocin.Timepoint: 24 hours

MeasureTime frame
To compare the following parameters between the groups receiving intramuscular carbetocin and intramuscular oxytocin 1. Duration of third stage of labour 2. Need of additional uterotonics 3. Side effects 4. Post-natal hemoglobin Timepoint: 24 hours
