Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1) Patients willing to give and sign written informed consent for the study. 2) Patients of age groups 30 to 65 years suffering from mild to moderate chronic periodontitis with periodontal pocket in at least one tooth with a probing depth of >=5 mm and 3) Patients with controlled type 2 diabetes mellitus and chronic periodontitis receiving antidiabetic therapy with HbA1c level between 6% -8% 4) Patients with no history of any systemic antibiotic administration within the previous 6 months. 5) Patients with no history of any periodontal treatment 6 months before the study.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1) Pregnant or lactating females 2) Deleterious habits such as smoking (or tobacco use in any form) and/or alcohol consumption 3) Patients with any systemic disease other than type 2 diabetes mellitus 4) Patients on insulin therapy
