Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. Individuals from the general population aged 50 years and above. 2. Ability to understand and the willingness to sign a written Informed Consent Form 3.Willingness to undergo the stipulated phenotypic battery of tests and provide blood 4.Consanguinity in parentage will be strongly preferred but not essential. 5.Hemoglobin level is 8g/dL or above as measured by point of care device 6.Willingness to be contacted at periodic intervals in the future for recording of health updates

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1.Individuals with hemoglobin level less than 8 gm per dL as measured by the point of care device. 2.Individuals with chronic uncontrolled infection 3.Any acute illness or infection 4.Pregnant and lactating women 5.Individuals on blood thinners (like Aspirin) (exclusion is to be decided by the site PI keeping in mind the safety of the participant) 6.Anyone on anticoagulants and blood thinners (exclusion is to be decided by the site PI keeping in mind the safety of the participant) 7.Average alcohol consumption greater than 21 per 14 units per week (14 g per alcohol per unit) (males and females) in the preceding 6 months and no history of sustained excessive alcohol consumption of alcohol in the past five years. (14 gm is equal to 350ml beer per 270ml malt whisky per 150ml wine per 40ml distilled spirits like gin, rum, vodka, whisky) (The site PI or designee questioning the participants will need to assess the alcohol consumption of a participant based on equivalence of 14gm of alcohol)

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
The most important outcome of this study will be the establishment of a state of the art biosample data bank that can support case-control genetic association studies on a variety of phenotypic traits in the Indian population. These studies could yield novel gene-disease associations, novel therapeutic targets, and novel biomarkers that serve as intermediate phenotypes.Timepoint: At enrollment
