Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Patients having histologically confirmed squamous cell carcinoma of head and neck region, except that of the oral cavity, scheduled for radiotherapy, willing to sign the informed consent will be included.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Patients with Cancer of the oral cavity, non-healing ulcers in the oral cavity, patients using any other mouthwashes, pregnant women.

Although many clinical studies attempting to reduce radiation-induced oral mucositis have been reported, there is no widely accepted effective agent for the treatment of radiation-induced oral mucositis. With this background, the aim of the present investigation is to evaluate the efficacy of herbal mouthwash containing pomegranate whole fruit extract and honey as a prudent and cost-effective method for healing oral mucositis in head and neck cancer patients undergoing radiotherapy.Timepoint: At baseline 1st week 2nd week 3rd week 4th week 5th week 6th week in the hospital and 8th week during follow - up visit.
