Eligibility
Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: 1. Patients aged between 18 and 50 years 2. Teeth with single root and single canal 3. Teeth with radiographic evidence of apical periodontitis (periapical index (PAI) >= 3, CBCT-PAI index >=2) 4. Tooth with no periodontitis
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: 1. Patients with any systemic diseases 2. Pregnant patients 3. Patients who had been taking antibiotics, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs or corticosteroids 3 months prior to time of treatment 4. If the tooth had been previously accessed 5. Grossly decayed teeth where rubber dam isolation is difficult 6. Teeth with calcified canals 7. Patient periodontal pockets exceeding 4 mm depth
