Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Patients age >18 years with a diagnosis of primary open angle glaucoma, including pigmentary glaucoma, and pseudoexfoliation, managed on multiple topical glaucoma medications with concurrent administration of medication at a minimum of one time point in the day. Concurrently prescribed eye drops include any of the following classes with twice daily dosing schedules: topical alpha agonists, topical beta blockers, and topical carbonic anhydrase inhibitors. The study includes 3 groups 1. Timolol and Brimonidine 2. Timolol and Dorzolamide 3. Brimonidine and Dorzolamide

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Patients with congenital, angle closure, juvenile open angle glaucoma, or secondary forms of glaucoma, aside from pseudoexfoliation and pigment dispersion syndrome) will be excluded from this study. Previous surgery for glaucoma (either subconjunctival or angle-based), previous cyclodestructive procedures, previous iridotomy, previous trabeculoplasty, or other incisional eye surgery for the last 6 months will be excluded. Individuals with an abnormal slit lamp examination (except for cataract/IOL) will be excluded. Individuals who have used one of the following eyedrop medications within the last 28 days of the study, or during the study: Prostaglandin analogues,Rho-kinase inhibitors, Parasympathomimetics (pilocarpine, echothiophate) will also be ineligible for participation. Patients on concomitant oral carbonic anhydrase inhibitors are also ineligible for participation.

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
Determine the effect of spacing concomitantly administered prescribed glaucoma medications on average and diurnal intraocular pressure in patients being treated for primary open angle glaucomaTimepoint: Patients will be reviewed at 4 weeks , where they will be crossed over and again will be reviewed after 4 weeks

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
Determine the effect of spacing concomitantly administered prescribed glaucoma medications on average and diurnal intraocular pressure in patients being treated for primary open angle glaucomaTimepoint: Will be reviewed at 4 weeks where the participants will be crossed over and again will be reviewed after 4 weeks
