Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Control group ASA I and ASA II patients posted for elective surgery Age 18-65 years Diabetic Group ASA II patients (Type II Diabetes mellitus controlled on OHA or insulin) Age 18-65 years Elective surgery (Ex-Cholecystectomy, Hernia surgeries,AppendectomyEtc.)

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Patients on medication which affects upper gastrointestinal tract motility like prokinetics(Cisapride, Domperidone), antidepressants (Amitryptilline). Previous oesophageal or abdominal surgery,pregnant patients Refusal of consent by the patient
