Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: This study will include records of patients =18 years and who: ? have been hospitalized (transferred) from emergency or outpatient departments to an inpatient ward (inclusive of the intensive care unit [ICU]) during the selected periods of enrollment (01 January 2019 – 31 December 2019, and 01 January 2022 – 30 June 2022). ? have received a diagnosis of lower tract respiratory infection (LTRI) (clinical diagnosis confirmed by radiology X-ray or computed tomography [CT] scan), inclusive of influenza and COVID-19 pneumonia (the latter, relevant for the first half of the year 2022). ? have an LTRI diagnosis that is compatible with a community source of infection before hospitalization as determined by the participating investigator Patients with a diagnosis of LTRI could include the following 3 categories: a) have newly diagnosed CAP during the study period of enrollment with no history of CAP before the start of the study period of enrollment b) have a recurrence during the study period of enrollment, of a CAP that occurred before the start of the study period of enrollment The date of first admission to the hospital for the above two patient categories (a and b) during the study period of enrollment is the index date. c) have a recurrence of a CAP (defined by a time interval of at least one month from the previous CAP admission) during the study period of enrollment. For this category of patients, the date of second admission would be considered as the index date.

| The aim of this study is to estimate the burden of severe CAP (severe enough to cause hospitalization) in adults in India according to initial state of severity,microbiology, and a comprehensive list of risk factors.
