Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Inclusion criteria for T2DM cases are as follows: (1) Self-reported diabetes or medical record/report listing T2DM as a condition. (2) Treatment naïve (i.e., no self-reported use of diabetes medication) to reduce confounding effects of drugs on the biomarkers, (3) Individuals with high risk of developing diabetes and with family history of diabetes will be enrolled. In parallel, we will recruit age, ethnicity and gender-matched healthy volunteers without T2DM as controls.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Patients who have diabetes related-complications or other co-morbidities will be excluded.

1.Generation of islet transcriptome and proteome datasets from Indian individuals with T2DM 2. Identification of functional, cellular, and/or molecular characters in Indian pancreata for biomarkers. 3. Development of critical mass trained in translational research of islet biology and T2DM in India. 4. Development of an interdisciplinary research team in collaboration with national and international institutes to study endocrine pancreasTimepoint: outcome 1 - 3 years outcome 2 - 3 years outcome 3 - 5 years outcome 4 - 1 year
