Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: All very low birth weight (VLBW) neonates (birth weight- <1500 grams) and gestational age of 26-34 weeks admitted into NICU of Kasturba Hospital, Manipal

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Neonates with congenital or maternal infections 2. Congenital Malformations 3. Syndromes/ Genetic defects 4. Surgical conditions – like intestinal obstruction/perforation needing stoma and mucus fistula 5. Critically ill conditions (pH 6. Inability to reach 100 ml/kg/day by 28 days of life
