Interventions

Intervention1: Elastic resistance based Pilates (Low impact Exercises): After allocation of participants to the Pilates group the subjects will be given supervised Pilates program for 8 weeks. Along
8-12 repetitions with proper form and technique for each exercise. Cool down for 5 minutes
slow stretches with each gentle stretch held for 15-20 seconds. The Pilates exercises will be given at beginners level to start with. Progression to intermediate and advanced levels will be done onl

Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. Willing to participate in the research – would have to come to the Sports and Exercise Science Research Laboratory, Jamia Hamdard for supervised Pilates program for 2 days in a week for 8 weeks. Should complete at least 14 Pilates sessions in a span period of 10 weeks. 2. Normal BMI – 18.5 to 24.9 (with normal weight gain till 20th to 25th week of pregnancy) 3. 20th to 25th week of pregnancy 4. Not taking part in any other physical exercise program 5. Clearance to participate in exercise program by a Gynaecologist

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Absolute or relative contraindications to exercise participation as identified by a Gynaecologist 2. On any hormonal replacement therapy 3. On any other medication that can affect the exercise program 4. Multiple pregnancy (Twins or more than two fetus)
