Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. Patient given informed and written consent. 2. ASA physical status I, II, and III 3. Body mass index less than 40 kg/m2. 4. Patients scheduled for elective surgeries requiring endotracheal intubation under general anaesthesia.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Pre-existing airway malformations or pathologies like facial or cervical fractures, maxillofacial abnormalities, cervical tumour, or goitre. 2. History of difficult intubation. 3. Patients with tracheostomy tubes. 4. Pregnancy. 5. Edentulous patients. 6. Head and neck gross external anatomical deformities/ Head and neck trauma.

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
During the pre-anaesthetic evaluation airway assessment by 1. Conventional method a. Modified Mallampati (MMP) score b. Thyromental distance (TMD) 2. Ultrasonographic parameters a. Distance from skin to epiglottis (DSE) b. Hyomental distance ratio (HMDR) Induction of anaesthesia direct laryngoscopy will be done and Cormackâ??Lehane (CL) grade will be noted.Timepoint: 1. At the time of pre-anaesthetic evaluation airway assessment. 2. At the time induction of anaesthesia direct laryngoscopy will be done and Cormackâ??Lehane (CL) grade will be noted.

1. ASA Grade- American society of anaesthesiologist classification of physical health 2. BMI-Basic metabolic index 3. Association between demographic variables and Cormac-Lehane Grading. Timepoint: 1. At the time of pre-anaesthetic evaluation airway assessment. 2. At the time induction of anaesthesia direct laryngoscopy will be done and Cormackâ??Lehane (CL) grade will be noted. 3. At the time of statistical data analysis.
