Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Children aged 2-59 months presenting with acute diarrhoea with wasting Acute diarrhoea being defined as per WHO as three or more than three loose stools with recent change in consistency in past 24 hours. Wasting being defined as weight for length/height

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Children who have received IV hydration outside before presenting Children with diarrhoea with known chronic illness like chronic liver disease or chronic kidney disease Children presenting with shock /life threatening conditions

To determine the sensitivity of clinical signs of dehydration in assessing dehydration in children aged between 2-59 months with acute malnutrition.Timepoint: Weight and clinical signs of dehydration (general appearance,thirst,skin pinch,sunken eyes,tears,radial pulse,deep breathing,heart rate,mucus membranes) at admission and weight every 8 hourly till the time of achieving post rehydration stable weight—

To compare accuracy of CDS (clinical dehydration scale) and DHAKA score with IMCI algorithm in identifying dehydration in malnourished children.Timepoint: Scoring(CDS,DHAKA,IMCI) and weight done at admission and every 8 hourly till achievement of post rehydration stable weight;To determine the specificity of clinical signs in assessing dehydration in children aged between 2-59 months with acute malnutritionTimepoint: Weight and clinical signsof dehydration ( general appearance,thirst,skin pinch,sunken eyes,tears,radial pulse,deep breathing,heart rate , mucus membranes) at admission and weight every 8 hourly till achievement of a post rehydration stable weight—
