Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1) All American Society of Anaesthesiologists physical status classification (ASA) I-II patients above 18 yrs of age 2) Scheduled for lower abdominal surgeries, admitted to surgical ward.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1.Patients aged less than 18 years 2.ASA III and ASA IV physical status 3.Pre-existing inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) 4.Patients with congestive heart failure, diabetes mellitus, thyroid, pituitary, adrenal, kidney, liver or metabolic disease, malignancy. 5.Patients on steroid therapy, hormone replacement therapy 6.Patients with history of drugs or alcohol abuse 7.Refusal of consent 8.Pregnancy

MeasureTime frame
To compare levels of Serum Leptin and C-reactive protein in between general and regional anesthesia in lower abdominal surgeries.Timepoint: Before 2 hours of surgery and 24 hours after surgery

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
To correlate VAS scores with Serum Leptin and CRP levels postoperatively.Timepoint: 0 hours, 4 hours, 8 hours, 12 hours, 24 hours postoperatively
