Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: 1. Individuals with healthy periodontium. 2. Patients with diagnosis of generalized gingivitis 3. Patients with diagnosis of generalized stage III grade B periodontitis (Periodontal health, gingivitis and periodontitis definition will be based on the classification of periodontal and peri-implant diseases and conditions as proposed in 2017 World Workshop) 4. Individuals with type 2 diabetes mellitus (HbA1c 5. Presence of at least 20 natural teeth
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: 1. Obese individuals, BMI >25 kg/m2 , waist circumference of >= 90 cm for men and >= 80cm for women according to Asian Pacific Perspective Obesity-WHO 2000. 2. Individuals who have received periodontal therapy in the last 6 months. 3. Individuals with systemic diseases other than type 2 diabetes mellitus (HbA1c 4. Individuals who have history of antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory therapy 5. Smokers 6. Pregnant/lactating and postmenopausal women
