Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1.Patients undergoing elective wrist and forearm surgery under ultrasound guided supraclavicular block at Mandya Institute of Medical Sciences, Mandya. 2.Patients of both sexes aged between 18 to 60 years. 3.Patients belonging to American Society of Anaesthesiologists Physical Status grade I and II. 4.Patients willing to give informed consent to participate in the study.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1.Patients with cardiovascular or cerebrovascular or peripheral vascular disease. 2.Patients with body mass index of more than 30 kg/m2. 3.Patients with uncontrolled diabetes mellitus or bleeding disorders or local infection at needle insertion site.

1.To evaluate whether perfusion index is a reliable objective method for assessing the adequacy of supraclavicular brachial plexus block. 2.To determine the best cutoff value for the PI and PI ratio in detection of block efficacy.
