Evaluation of the lung function using a new calculated index from ventilator settings, blood oxygen values, supplemented Oxygen fraction during assisted breathing and observed lung compliance, aiding early ventilator weaning and facilitating tracheal extubation after heart surgeries.

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
Primary objectives: 1.To evaluate the usefulness of the PaO2/FIO2Ã?PEEP ratio and Static lung compliance for predicting oxygenation status and ventilatory requirements after cardiac surgery in order to provide a potential tool and value for immediate postoperative assessment in fast-tracking. Timepoint: 7 months

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
Secondary objectives: (d) To test the value of P/FP ratio and Static lung Compliance at 1hr post ICU admission in predicting postoperative pulmonary complications. (e) Evaluating P/FP ratio and Static lung compliance in predicting post extubation - NIV (Non Invasive Ventilation) requirement and duration. (f) To assess the correlation between P/FP ratio and Static lung compliance.Timepoint: 7 months
