Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. First time whole blood donor 2. First time plateletpheresis donor (With at least one whole blood donation in last one year) 3. Frequent plateletpheresis donor ( > 6 double dose platelet apheresis in last one year)

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Repeat plateletpheresis donor having RBC loss due to failed apheresis collections in last 6 months 2. First time plateletpheresis donors without any prior whole blood donation

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
1. To quantify the iron stores in first time whole blood, first time apheresis and frequent platelet apheresis donors by estimating serum ferritin levels and serum erythropoietin levels Timepoint: at baseline

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
To determine whether repeat platelet apheresis donors require annual serum ferritin screening program to early identify the iron deficiency statusTimepoint: at time of enrolment
