Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. Patients more than or equal to18 years of age 2. Admission in the ICU of more than 24 hours

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Pregnancy / menstruating females 2. Urinary tract infection / Nephropathy 3. Anuria / macroscopic hematuria 4. Preexisting chronic kidney disease / significant proteinuria / renal replacement therapy 5. Disseminated malignancy

MeasureTime frame
To correlate microalbuminuria and hypoalbuminemia with mortality in critically ill patients admitted to the intensive care unit.Timepoint: 1. At time of admission to intensive care unit. 2. After 6 hours of admission to intensive care unit. 3. After 24 hours of admission to intensive care unit.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
To correlate microalbuminuria and hypoalbuminemia with: 1. Days of mechanical ventilation 2. APACHE II scores 3. SOFA scores in critically ill patients admitted to the intensive care unit.Timepoint: DAY 1 OF ADMISSION: 1. Serum creatinine, serum albumin (ALB 2), Blood urea nitrogen. 2. Spot Urine samples after 24 hours of admission for albumin creatinine ratio (ACR 2). 3. Any other investigations as required. 4. Urine output for 24 hours on hourly and daily basis.
