Intervention1: Unilateral subarachnoid block for knee surgery: 0.5 % of heavy bupivacaine 2.5 ml will be injected into subarachnoid space at L3-L4/ L4-L5 level of spine. Patients will be kept for 10 m

Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: patients between 18 years to 60 years of age patients with ASA STATUS 1 and 2 patients posted for elective knee surgery under regional anesthesia

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Patients not willing to participate Patients refuse for either regional anesthesia OR not participate in study Allergy to local anesthetics agent ASA physical status- 3 & 4 Presence of coagulopathy Pre- existing neurological disease Increased intracranial pressure Diabetics and peripheral neuropathy Skin and soft tissue infection at site of needle insertion.

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
To compare the duration of motor blockade in both techniquesTimepoint: Every 10 minutes intraoperative period till completion of surgery.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
Compare the duration of sensory block in both techniqueTimepoint: 12 Hrs postoperative period.
