Eligibility
Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: 1. Patients who have mild to moderate ulcerative colitis , with a current simple clinical colitis activity index greater then or equal to 3 and less then or equal to 11. 2. Patients whose diagnosis confirmed with sigmoidoscopy/colonoscopy.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: 1. Patients who are in remission from ulcerative colitis or who have a simple clinical colitis activity index 0 - 2. 2. Patients who have severe ulcerative colitis or simple clinical colitis activity index of 12 or above. 3. Patients who are noncompliant with medication or regular follow up visits or who are unable to or unwilling to record response. 4. Patients with comorbid illness including DM, Stage III or above CHF, Chronic pancreatitis, Severe liver or renal disease. 5. Patients with anemia ( Hb 6. Patients with history of malignancy 7. Patients who are currently pregnant or nursing
