Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. Patients with Angleââ?¬•s Class I malocclusion with bimaxillary dentoalveolar protrusion who need extraction of maxillary 1st premolars followed by comprehensive orthodontic treatment. 2. Age group between 15-25 years, with complete root formation; gender distribution will be equal. 3. Normal vertical dimension represented by GoGn-SN of 32+6Ã?°.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1.Patients taking systemic steroids, anti-inflammatory medications, or medications with xerostomic effects. 2.Clinical signs of periodontal disease upon visual intraoral inspection, non-vital teeth,impacted/supernumerary teeth/history of trauma 3.Asthmatic patients/any systemic diseases 4.History of previous orthodontic treatment or Radiographic evidence of apical root resorption. 5.Oral Habits, smokers

Design outcomes

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
1.To evaluate external root resorption using metric measurements as well as grading root resorption. 2.To evaluate the relation if any between root resorption and age, gender and duration of treatment.Timepoint: To-Prior to start of orthodontic treatment T1-At the start of retraction T2-3months following the start of retraction T3-At the end of retraction

Primary

MeasureTime frame
Quantification of specific protein biomarkers (CEMP-1, DSPP and MMP-9) in gingival crevicular fluid at different clinical time-points utilizing ELISA and its relation to the severity of Orthodontic root resorption as measured on RVG.Timepoint: To-Prior to start of orthodontic treatment T1-At the start of retraction T2-3months following the start of retraction T3-At the end of retraction
