Health Condition 1: O- Medical and Surgical

Interventions

Intervention1: Ketamine: The patients will be divided into two groups
Group 1 and Group 2. Group 1 will receive Ketamine -0.5mg/kg body weight in 100 ml normal saline intravenously over 10 mins and the effect will be recorded for the next 24 hrs Control Intervention1:
Group 1 and Group 2. Group 2 will receive Magnesium Sulphate 30mg/kg body weight intravenously in 100 ml normal Saline and effect will be recorded over 24 hrs.

Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. American society of Anaesthesiology score [ASA] I and 2 2. Age between 18 years and 65 years 3. Surgery lasting between 60 to 90 mins 4. Laparoscopic cholecystectomy using four ports

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Patient refusal 2. Any systemic co-morbidity including uncontrolled hypertension and diabetes, Heart block, renal impairment (serum creatinine greater than 2mg/dl, hepatic impairment (trans-aminases greater than double the normal values), psychiatric disorders like Schizophrenia and Mania 3. Patient on any addictive drug or allergic to any drug used in the trial 4. Pregnant patient and lactating mothers 5. Glaucoma, raised intracranial pressure

KETAMINE IS SUPERIOR TO MAGNESIUM SULPHATE AS IT PROVIDE BETTER INTRA-OPERATIVE AND POST-OPERATIVE ANALGESIA AND IT DELAYS THE TIME FOR THE FIRST RESCUE ANALGESIA REQUEST.Timepoint: Patient wll be monitored for post-operative analgesia for 24 hrs.
