Intervention1: Fascia Ilica compartment block: Injection of local anaesthetic into fascial plane below the inguinal region in an attempt to block the nerves of the lower limb to assess post operative

Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Those undergoing surgeries involving the shaft of femur fratures

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Refusal to give consent. 2. ASA grade 4 3. Allergy to LA 4.Patients with coagulopathy 5.Patient with neurological deficits and neuromuscular disease 6. Infections at the site of infection 7. Pregnancy

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
Duration of analgesia for a period of 24 hours post operatively.Timepoint: Duration of analgesia at time of injection and every 4 hours and injection of local anaesthetic till 24 hours

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
1. NRS score before block at rest 2. NRS score 10 minutes after block 3. NRS score on passive limb lifting after block 4. Duration of analgesia 5. Complications, if any. Timepoint: Pain scoring and complications will be noted every 4 hours after the injection of local anaesthetic for a 24 hour period
