Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Patients requiring secondary IOL placement following aphakia due to inadequate or no capsular support Patients with subluxated IOL or dislocated crystalline lens presenting to out-patient department of Aravind Eye Hospital Pondicherry

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Patients with pre existing retinal or choroidal pathology like diabetic retinopathy age-related macular degeneration retinal detachment or retinal vein occlusion Patients with corneal pathologies like corneal opacity or corneal dystrophy Patients with glaucoma or pre operative IOP of 25 mm Hg or more Patients with history of or on treatment for scleritis Patients who fail to follow up post operatively

The clinical outcome of this new technique will be comparable to the existing techniques if not better The surgical procedure is made easy so the reduced duration of the surgery will also contribute to less inflammation and better visual outcomes Timepoint: Post operative Month 1
