Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: all adult patients from 18-60 years of age undergoing elective neurosurgical procedures and requiring postoperative mechanical ventilation will be included in the study

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: refusal to consent, pregnancy, ASA 3 and above, chromic smoker and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, emergency neurosurgery, preoperative evidence of difficult airway

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
evaluate the occurrence of airway edema after elective neurosurgical procedures in various surgical positionsTimepoint: time points after surgery (in hours) - 0,12,24,48.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
compare the frequency of laryngeal edema at 24 hours after endotracheal intubation among patients operated in different surgical positionsTimepoint: 24 hours after endotracheal intubation;evaluate the risk factors associated with postoperative laryngeal edema in patients undergoing neurosurgical procedures in various surgical positions. Timepoint: after extubation; To compare the efficacy of cuff leak test (CLT) and laryngeal ultrasound on prediction of laryngeal edema after tracheal extubation.Timepoint: after extubation
