Health Condition 1: K029- Dental caries, unspecified

Interventions

Intervention1: Two dyes are used (Curcumin and Indocyanine green): Efficacy of curcumin (500mg/L and applied for 5 minutes) and indocyanine green (prepared by mixing 25mg of dye with 5ml of distilled
Streptococcus mutans and Lactobacillus spp. Control Intervention1: Selective deep caries excavation: Selective deep caries excavation is performed (the pulpal floor will be excavated till the soft den

Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. No clinical and radiographic signs of pulpal involvement 2. Patients presenting with Class I, deep cavities extending to the inner part of the dentin in permanent molars 3. Written informed consent from each patient 4. Teeth responding normally or in a similar manner to pulp sensibility as compared to the contralateral tooth; namely EPT and cold pulp test.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Patients with syndromes or chronic systemic diseases 2. History of antibiotics usage within previous three months 3. Teeth with painful symptoms consistent with irreversible pulpitis or mobility 4. Teeth with exposure of dental pulp or periodontal change 5. Impossible adequate isolation of the tooth 6. Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
Efficacy of curcumin (500mg/L and applied for 5 minutes) and indocyanine green (prepared by mixing 25mg of dye with 5ml of distilled water and applied for 5 minutes) in antimicrobial photodynamic therapy is compared in reducing the load of two cariogenic bacteria; Streptococcus mutans and Lactobacillus spp.Timepoint: Samples will be processed within a month by qPCR to check for the amount of bacterial load

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
To compare the clinical and radiological outcome of antimicrobial photodynamic therapy with the Curcumin and Indocyanine-green photosensitizersTimepoint: Clinical and radiological assessment of the tooth will be done after 6 and 12 months
