Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Patients who meet the criteria for sepsis and septic shock (The Third International Consensus Definitions for Sepsis and Septic Shock (Sepsis-3). SOFA score of >= 2 at the time of admission will be taken as patient who is sepsis and a need for vasopressors support at time of admission will be taken as septic shock . ICU stay > 24 hours

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Patients with chronic renal failure (CKD), 2. Patients with acute or chronic liver failure (ALF or CLF), 3. Known hematologic disease 4. Patients on anticoagulation therapy.
