Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Patients willing to give written informed consent, ASA grade I & II Age groups 20-50 years Planned for elective surgery under general anesthesia.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: H/O allergy to labetalol and esmolol , Anticipated difficult intubation, ASA grade III or greater, History of consumption of antihypertensive drugs, sedatives, hypnotics and antidepressants preoperatively, Pre-existing cardiovascular disease, significant respiratory, renal and hepatic disorder, bleeding disorder. History of drugs or alcohol abuse, Heart rate

MeasureTime frame
Attenuation of hemodynamic responses (heart rate, systolic blood pressure, diastolic blood pressure, mean arterial pressure) associated with laryngoscopy and intubation in elective surgeries under general anesthesia by injection esmolol 0.5mg/kg versus injection labetalol 0.25mg/kg intravenous.Timepoint: Readings are noted at baseline , 1 minute , 3 minute ,5 minute ,10 minutes after laryngoscopy and intubation.

To determine the difference in percentage of cases who experience adverse effects if any, of IV Esmolol and IV Labetalol.Timepoint: Readings are noted at baseline , 1 minutes , 3 minutes ,5 minutes ,10 minutes after laryngoscopy and intubation.
