Interventions

Intervention1: Melatonin in-situ gel formulation : 1.2mg ,once intraorally to the defects. Control Intervention1: In-situ gel without melatonin formulation.: 1.2mg, once intraorally to the defects.

Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1 Patients of age group >= 18 years 2 Patients diagnosed with stage III periodontitis according to AAP 2017 classification. 3 Patients with probing pocket depth >= 5mm with radiographic evidence of vertical bone loss. 4 No history of periodontal surgery in past 6 months

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1) Smokers 2) Pregnant and lactating females 3) Patients with systemic diseases 4) Treatment with any drug that might alter melatonin levels ( eg: Diazepam)
