Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Children within the age group of 2-12 years scheduled for elective surgeries requiring endotracheal tube intubation ASA – Grade I and II Duration of surgery more than 2 hours

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Children with anticipated difficult airway or syndromic association Children with recent upper respiratory tract infection ( Children with obesity (BMI >85th percentiles), Children with history of snoring, Children with reactive airway disease, Children with congenital heart disease. Children undergoing oral surgeries. Children not intubated in the first attempt

Primary

MeasureTime frame
To compare tracheal extubation quality as judged by the cough score in children undergoing surgeries under general anaesthesiaTimepoint: at base line, immediately after extubation and at every five minutes till 30 minutes post extubation

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
To assess the number of incidents of oxygen desaturation (SPO2 less than 92%), laryngospasm, bronchospasm, and upper airways obstruction.Timepoint: at baseline, immediately after extubation, and every five minutes for 30 minutes post extubation
