Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Diabetes Mellitus for more than 6 months duration using Metformin as a single agent, ASA II TO III, Serum creatinine levels < 1.6, posted for minor surgical procedures( both general and regional anaesthesia)

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: HbA1c >8%, patients with chronic or acute renal insufficiency, patients on insulin therapy, patients with liver insufficiency, patients using corticosteroids.

To study and compare changes in blood glucose levels and serum lactate levels at different time intervals in diabetic patients undergoing elective minor surgeries under general or regional anaesthesia, with or without continuation of morning dose of metformin.Timepoint: Baseline, 1 hour after incision, 2 hours postoperative and 24 hours postoperative values
