Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. Haemoglobin levels 8.0-10.9 g/dL 2. Serum Ferritin 3. MCV 4. Weight for age -2SD to +2SD.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Children with chronic medical condition, those requiring frequent blood transfusions, known cases of haemoglobinopathy and obvious intellectual disability.

Increase in Developmental Mental Quotient score on DASII scale after 14 weeks of oral iron treatment.Timepoint: After 14 weeks of oral iron treatment

1. Developmental Quotient (DQ), Developmental Mental Quotient (DMeQ) and Developmental Motor Quotient (DMoQ) - baseline and at the end of the study. 2. Haemoglobin and MCV - baseline and at the end of the study. 3. Serum Ferritin, Iron and Transferrin Saturation - baseline and at the end of the study. 4.
