Interventions

Intervention1: Epidural steroid and verapamil: Single epidural injection of 2 ml 2% lignocaine + 80 mg triamcinolone (2ml) + 5 mg verapamil (2 ml). Injection will be made with help of 18G Tuohy needle

Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. Low back ache with radiation to leg >= 6 months 2. Unilateral radiculopathy 3.Numerical rating scale (NRS) for pain >= 5 on 11 point scale 4.Radicular pain explained by evidence of lumbar disc herniation encroaching on nerve root on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Patient refusal 2. History of epidural steroid during past 6 months 3. Bilateral radicular pain 4. Radicular pain due to spinal canal stenosis 5. Sequestered disc 6. Allergy to contrast or local anesthetics 7. History of lumbar spine surgery 8. Pregnant patients 9. Bleeding or coagulation disorders 10. Opioid addiction of psychiatric disorders
