Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1.Newly diagnosed breast cancer patients of age between 18 to 60 years with any receptor phenotypes scheduled for upfront surgery in the curative setting 2.Breast cancer patients of age between 18 to 60 years whose tumours are triple-negative (TNBC) by IHC(ER-/PR-/HER2-)and whose treatment naïve tissues were bio-banked by hospital TTR in the period 1st January 2012 to 31stOctober 2020 3.Breast cancer patients of age between 18 to 60 years whose tumours are triple-negative (TNBC) by IHC(ER-/PR-/HER2-)and who have relapsed or progressed within 3 years of diagnosis 4.Patients willing to provide written informed consent to participate in the study, including biopsies from primary/relapse/metastatic sites or at the time of surgery 5.Patients in whom biopsy from primary/relapse/metastatic sites can be performed with reasonable safety 6.Triple negative breast cancer patients whose primary tumors are stored in the Tumor Tissue Repository of Tata Memorial Hospital in liquid nitrogen. 7.Breast cancer patients of any receptor phenotype whose tumour adjacent normal breast tissues are stored I the Tumour Tissue Repository of Tata Memorial Hospital in liquid nitrogen

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
This project aims to develop antibody markers that will identify resistant and/or metastatic cells in the primary tumour tissue itself so that new therapies and approaches can be designed. We hypothesize that these cells evade therapy and emerge later (as recurrence or metastases) causing the morbidity and mortality of cancer. We wish to use tumour specific phage display antibody libraries to identify targets/ molecular markers of such metastatic stage specifically in the primary tumour tissue. Using these markers will then attempt to identify such cells in early stages of cancer.Timepoint: 12 months
