Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Adult patients admitted within 24 hours of onset of symptoms of acute ischemic stroke.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Hemorrhagic stroke. Cardioembolic stroke ââ?¬â?? as evidenced by prior history of valvular or ischemic heart disease, or cardia arrhythmias, cardiac surgery. Echocardiogram at admission revealing valvular heart disease, atrial thrombus, regional wall motion abnormality or ejection fraction less than 50%

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
Monitoring of cardiac enzymes would guide prevention and treatment of cardiac disease in patients with stroke. Patients with greater biomarker elevation may be considered for early coronary evaluation and interventionTimepoint: 1 year

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
Elevated biomarkers would help in stroke prognostication.Timepoint: 1 year
