Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1Patients with type 2 diabetes on stable doses of oral hypoglycaemic agents (OHA) for a period of minimum 3 months and not receiving insulin Male or Female between 30 years to 65 years of age HbA1c between 7% to 11% both inclusive If on anti-hypertensive, lipid-lowering, or thyroid medications or hormone therapy, has been on constant dosage for at least 3 months prior to screening visit. Willing to give written informed consent Willing to comply with the requirements of the protocol

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: a known history of diabetes mellitus or the use of anti-hyperglycemic drugs or insulin to treat diabetes and related conditions pregnant or lactating women a major medical or surgical event requiring hospitalization within the preceding 3 months; the presence of disease or drug(s) which influence digestion and absorption of nutrients; the use of steroids, protease inhibitors or antipsychotics (all of which have major effects on glucose metabolism and body fat distribution).
