Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1.Subjects should be in between the age group 35 - 50 years. 2.Subjects should have 20 teeth atleast. 3.Subjects should be systemically healthy should not have diabetes mellitus, hypertension etc 4.Subjects without the history invasive periodontal therapy in the previous six months. 5.Subjects should have 4mm� pocket depth more than 30% of sites

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1.Subjects having systemic disease such as diabetes mellitus, hypertension etc 2.Subjects having diseases with possible effect on immune system like chronic infection and cancer. 3.Subjects from the experimental group who have achieved tobacco smoking and chewing cessation during the course of the study after the counselling given in 1st visit. 4.Subjects from the control group who have initiated the habit of tobacco smoking or chewing during the course of the study. 5.Subjects who are under the treatment for any diseases with any drugs that might alter PMN number and function. 6.Subjects taking antibiotic therapy during course of study . 7.Subjects who have undergone any invasive periodontal therapy in the previous six months.
