Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1.Age between 18 to 60 years 2.American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) physical status I-II 3.Scheduled for surgeries in the supine position under general anesthesia with endotracheal intubation. 4.Duration of surgery less than 3 hours.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1.Patients already having upper respiratory tract infection or sore throat 2.Patients already on steroids: inhaled or oral 3.Patients already on analgesics 4.Patients with anticipated difficult airway with more than 2 attempts at intubation 5.Patient with history of bronchial asthma 6.Patients with nasogastric tube 7.Patients undergoing surgery of: oral cavity, head and neck, thyroid, tonsillectomies and cervical spine 8.History of allergy to the test drugs
