Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Age >= 18 years. Prior inferior or anteroseptal MI diagnosed on the basis of a history of acute MI more than one month before with rise and/or fall of cardiac biomarkers above the 99th percentile of the upper reference limit with ST elevation in anterior or inferior leads on ECG and segmental left ventricular wall motion abnormality of the inferior or anteroseptal wall. Moderate or severe mitral regurgitation diagnosed on the basis of vena contracta width >= 0.3 cm and/or Jet/LA area >= 20% and/or MR regurgitant volume >= 30 ml as per 2017 American Society of Echocardiography (ASE) guidelines.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Recent MI ( Multiple MIs Previous heart surgery MR caused by organic mitral valvular lesions (including rheumatic changes, chordal or papillary muscle rupture, and infective endocarditis) Other associated cardiac diseases, such as aortic valve or congenital heart disease.

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
To assess the severity and different mechanisms of ischemic mitral regurgitation by echocardiography in patients with prior myocardial infarction. To compare the geometry of mitral valve complex in patients with moderate or severe ischemic mitral regurgitation due to inferior and anterior myocardial infarction.Timepoint: Baseline and 1 month

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
To provide data of different echocardiographic parameters that can help in selecting specific treatment procedures targeting the underlying mechanism of ischemic mitral regurgitation in patients of inferior and anterior myocardial infarction.Timepoint: 1 year
