Intervention1: Dispersible Zinc sulphate tablet: Patients will be given 2 dispersible zinc sulphate tablets (equivalent to 40 mg of elemental zinc) 30 minutes prior to intubation Control Intervent

Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Age between 18 to 75 years of age. Patients with ASA grade I and II. Mallampatti grade I and II. Patients undergoing surgeries lasting for more than 30 minutes under general anaesthesia with tracheal intubation. � Surgeries other than head and neck surgeries. Patients staying at least for 24 hours after surgery.�  Patients who provided informed consent.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Traumatic intubation more than 1 attempt Patients on steroids either systemic or inhalational. History of URI and immune deficiency states. MPS >2 Chronic smokers. Patients allergic to zinc Pregnancy Head and neck surgeries

data will be collected for incidence and severity of post operative sore throat using standardised 4-point scale graded from 0 to 3 and analyzed accordingly i.e NO SORE THROAT 0 MILD SORE THROAT (PATIENT COMPLAINS ONLY ON QUESTIONING) 1 MODERATE SORE THROAT (PATIENTS COMPLAINS OF SORE THROAT OF THEIR OWN) 2 SEVERE SORE THROAT (CHANGE IN VOICE, HOARSNESS AND THROAT PAIN) 3 Timepoint: 0 min,30 min,2 hours,4 hours,24 hours
