Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Inclusion criteria of cases: 1.Patients aged between 18-40 years diagnosed with cataract of any type. 2.Willing to give written informed consent Inclusion Criteria of Controls: 1.Age and gender matched individuals presenting to the comprehensive clinics at Aravind Eye Hospital, Pondicherry who have no cataract. 2.Willing to give informed consent

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1.Individuals having ocular features where dilation is contraindicated 2.All ocular emergencies 3.Individuals with active infectious eye diseases

This study will help us understand the risk factors associated with cataract in this age group and will help us understand the disease better and guide us to address modifiable risk factors in this physically and financially active age group.Timepoint: Baseline—

This study will help us understand the spectrum of clinical presentations of cataract in this study population.Timepoint: Baseline;This study will reveal any associations between cataract and other ocular pathologies in the 18-40 years age group.Timepoint: Baseline;This study will reveal any statistically significant association between cataract and the blood levels of Vitamin A, Vitamin C, Vitamin D, the lipid profile and serum albumin.Timepoint: Baseline—
