Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Patient undergoing major abdominal surgery with following 1. Age above 18 years 2. Both male and female 3. American Society of Anesthesiologists Physical Status 1-3 4. Undergoing major abdominal surgery (Surgery duration of more than 2 hours) • Can give informed consent themselves

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1 Patient refusal 2 Age 3 Patients with a history suggestive of dementia (either listed in the medical record or reported by the patient) or any neurological disorder. 4 History of alcohol abuse, chronic opioid or other substance abuse 5 History of cerebral surgeries, stroke 6 History suggestive of psychiatric disease like schizophrenia, dementia, anxiety, or other disorder affecting cognition, mental dysfunction 7 Prescription of the central nervous system â??active medication (e.g.; antidepressants, antipsychotics, sedatives)

MeasureTime frame
To determine association between pre-operative (CRP) and an increased risk of postoperative delirium.Timepoint: Pre-op, Post-op Day 0, Post-op Day 1, Post-op Day 3.

MeasureTime frame
To determine association between pre-operative levels of pro-inflammatory cytokines (IL-2 and IL-6) and an increased risk of postoperative delirium.Timepoint: Pre-op, Post-op Day 0, Post-op Day 1, Post-op Day 3.
