| To establish a safe regime for high risk geriatric patientsTimepoint: To achieve adequate motor and sensory blockade (Bromage 2) after administration of the regime ( 0.5 ml of Bupivacaine and 25 mcg of Fentanyl intrathecally ) in high risk geriatric patients 1.Time taken to achieve Bromage 2 (which will be recorded as soon as the drug is injected in to the subarachnoid space) | — |
Secondary
| Measure | Time frame |
|---|---|
| Assessment of the effectivity of the regime by estimating the dermatomal level, hemodynamic stability, adverse effects and recovery from the anesthesiaTimepoint: Time taken to achieve Bromage 2 level of blockade and dermatomal level achieved Recording systolic and diastolic blood pressure and oxygen saturation every 5 minutes for first 20 minutes and then every 10 minutes till the end of surgery Identification and documentation of any episode of bradycardia or hypotension (which will be treated with atropine and ephedrine respectively) Post operative episodes of Nausea and vomiting | — |
