Design outcomes
Primary
| Measure | Time frame |
|---|---|
| Comparison of HRV parameters (from baseline to after completion of intubation) between easy and difficult intubation. We will analyze the following parameters from HRV: for time domain parameters [(1) Average heart rate (AHR – beats/min) and (2) (RMSSD)] and frequency domain parameters [low-frequency and high-frequency powers, low-frequency to high-frequency ratio (LF/HF ratio) and total spectral power (in millisecond squared ms2) Timepoint: Four time points At baseline before evaluating the patient After airway assessment and before intubation During intubation After completion of intubation | — |
Secondary
| Measure | Time frame |
|---|---|
| Comparison of HRV parameters in anaesthesiologists between residents and faculty for similar airway conditions. 2. Comparison of HRV parameters between experienced and novice fiberoptic intubation performers 3. Correlation between anxiety level of anaesthesiologist [as assessed by Visual Analogue scale for Anxiety (VAS-A) and using a locally developed self- reported performance/task related anxiety questionnaire)] with HRV 4. Compare of HRV among anaesthesiologists during intubation in OR versus ICU Timepoint: Four time points At baseline before evaluating the patient After airway assessment and before intubation During intubation After completion of intubation | — |
