Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Patients undergoing elective and emergency operative procedures ASA I-II providing a written informed consent

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Medical history of concomitant disease 2. Previous surgery at the site of radial artery cannulation 3. Any vascular condition that may preclude eligibility for radial artery insertion e.g peripheral vascular disease 4. Haemorrhagic shock 5. coagulation disorders 6. Obesity (BMI >30) 7. Negative modified Allenâ??s test

MeasureTime frame
1.Success rate of first insertion attempt of radial arterial cannulationTimepoint: Intraoperative period ( initial stages ) : after administration of general anaesthesia (base line ) and upto insertion of arterial cannula or 30 minutes (end points ) whichever is earlier , while monitoring hemodynamic parameters of the patient every 5 minutes .
