Intervention1: To observe the efficacy of gabapentin in attenuating the hemodynamic stress response to laryngoscopy and intubation.: Group 1 will be given tablet gabapentin 800mg 3 hours before surge

Eligibility
Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: : Patients of either sex aged 18 to 50 years, belonging to American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) physical status I & II, scheduled to undergo surgery under general anaesthesia
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: The patients who ï?¬ have cervical spine instability ï?¬ neurosurgery and patients who are on drugs effecting central nervous system ï?¬ have difficult airway ï?¬ have more than one intubation attempt ï?¬ have upper airway anatomical deformity, trauma or tumor ï?¬ obstetric patients ï?¬ have BMI >= 35 Kgm-2 ï?¬ have h/o obstructive sleep apnoea ï?¬ are not willing to give consent
