Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. Patients with a minimum vertical ridge height of 6mm. 2. Minimum ridge width of 4 - 4.5mm. 3. Anterior or posterior edentulous area

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Patient with a cardiac pacemaker. 2. Patients with the underlying bone disease- Osteomyelitis, Osteoporosis 3. Undergoing bisphosphonate therapy. 4. Patients with underlying severe systemic disease-Uncontrolled diabetes (Hba1c taken to evaluate the diabetic status)

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
1. Amount of bone gain 2. Bone density 3. Bone volume 4. Trabecular thickness 5. Trabecular separation 6. Trabecular number 7. Type of bone formedTimepoint: Preoperatively- Amount of bone gain, bone density, and bone volume parameters are assessed. At 3 and 6 months postoperatively for alveolar distraction and autologous bone graft respectively- trabecular thickness, trabecular separation, trabecular number, and type of bone formed parameters are assessed.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
1. serum vitamin D 2. serum Alkaline phosphataseTimepoint: After three and six months
